Name: Jeff Ji
Program Entry: Summer 2022
Department: Neuroscience
Mentor: Dr. Nicolas G. Bazan
Hometown: Peterborough, Ontario, Canada
Education: B.S & M.S in Pharmacology from McGill University, Montreal
Past Research Experience:
Graduate Student/Research Assistant, McGill University, Montreal, Quebec: I worked in Dr. Dusica Maysinger’s lab in the Department of Pharmacology & Therapeutics. My project was to investigate autophagy dysregulation and lipid droplet accumulation in pancreatic tissue from type-2 diabetic/obese donors and pancreatic beta-cells under metabolic stress. Other projects I was involved in include testing different nanoparticles as anti-inflammatory agents or as drug delivery vehicles.
Summer Research Student, The Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, Ontario: I worked in Dr. Rosanna Weksberg’s lab in Clinical and Metabolic Genetics. My project was to identify genetic and epigenetic markers associated with autism spectrum disorder.
Undergraduate Researcher Student, McGill University, Montreal, Quebec: I worked in Dr. Robert Murgita’s Lab in the Department of Microbiology & Immunology. I assisted in the development of a software to accurately predict protein-protein interaction sites
